burma.

those of you reading this most likely know me pretty damn well. and because of that, you know that i'm definitely not one to be involved in politics or talk about current events. however, what's currently going on in myanmar (burma) is absolutely horrifying to me. i've spent the past couple days reading every news source online that mentions it. i encourage you to do the same. at the moment i'm unaware of any organized protest or call to action in atlanta, but as soon as i find out about one, i'll post about it on here.

i'm horrified. just completely horrified.

EDIT 9/29 - i am adding links to this list as i find them.

I actually meant to ask if you've been keeping up with this.

the whole thing is really frightening.

it's so frustrating in situations like this because not only is there very little that we can do on an individual/local level, but there's very little that the international community can do too (especially when china is blocking security council resolutions).

I think the best thing is to keep on raising awareness, though. it's been getting a lot of attention and that's good. I don't know...I just hope that things are resolved soon. somehow.

yeah. i've signed most of the petitions i've found and joined the US campaign for burma but i feel useless. especially when i'm about to go out to dinner and a show and drink beers and possibly enjoy myself while this is going on.

First best thing to do: keep calling it Burma. It's "officially" Myanmar, but we need to keep the resistance up, even if it's something small.

IT's BURMA, MOFOS
